An Evening With Tony Award Winner SUTTON FOSTER
Here's your opportunity to enjoy Sutton Foster in concert just a short time before she appears in another starring role on Broadway. Sutton opens in March 2011 at Broadway's Stephen Sondheim Theatre as the lead in Cole Porter's Anything Goes.
Sutton received the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award and Astaire Award for her performance as Mille Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Sutton received the Outer Critics Circle Award as well as Tony and Drama Desk nominations for her starring role as Princess Fiona in Shreck: The Musical.
Prior to that, she was Inga in Mel Brooks' musical, Young Frankenstein, Janet Van De Graaf in The Drowsy Chaperone for which she also received Tony and Drama Desk nominations and received the LA Ovation Award, Jo March in Little Women: The Musical for which she received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations.
She recently starred in the sold-out City Center Encores! production of Stephen Sondheim's Anyone Can Whistle. Sutton's concert appearances include Lincoln Center's American Songbook series, and Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops Orchestra. On t-v, you've seen Sutton in "Law & Order: SVU," on The Disney Channel, and on HBO in the series "The Flight of the Conchords."
MICHAEL RAFTER will be Sutton's accompanist. Michael received the Emmy Award for his musical direction of Gypsy on HBO starring Bette Midler. On Broadway, he has served as musical director/conductor for Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Sound of Music, The King & I, and Gypsy. He provided musical arrangements for the Broadway productions of Swing and Sweet Charity. He collaborated with Sutton on her first solo CD, the recently released Wish.
Opening for Sutton Foster will be JASON SUMMERS, a favorite of Westco's audiences whose show business career has taken him around the country from Westchester to The White House.
